Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- Device category and operating system
- Browser name and version
- IP address used for the connection
- Visited pages and approximate time spent
- Referring page or site, when supplied
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Analytics providers combine that activity into site-use reports. A browser can reject cookies, though disabling them may change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and maintaining performance
- Routing a submitted query to the selected partner
- Understanding which resources visitors use
- Operating and securing the website
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Lander County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records held by the Lander County Sheriff, the courts, Nevada's Central Repository, and the Nevada Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not turned into a consumer report or a dossier about another person, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the embedded search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by that provider's policy. Each partner chooses its own retention and disclosure practices, which are beyond our control. Review those terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, Nevada agencies, legal resources, or search providers. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's own privacy terms apply. Check them before supplying personal data.
Advertising firms may use their systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not operate that cross-site tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing an intentionally submitted query
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal details from a person under 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be made.
Your Data Rights
Rights may differ based on residence and applicable law. Nevada's Public Records Act, NRS Chapter 239, governs access to covered government records, while NRS Chapter 179A controls criminal-history dissemination and subject review. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal data we hold
- Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
- Seek deletion where the law allows it
- Object to eligible forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A replacement becomes available here with its updated effective date.
